Message from the General Manager
Welcome to the latest issue of the SmartBay Ireland bi-monthly newsletter.
In each issue, you can expect updates on activities at the SmartBay Facility, relevant EU Projects, what's happening in the Marine Industry nationally and internationally, funding opportunities, local community engagement initiatives and team updates.
As we continue to work through these strange times, we are happy to share some good news. SmartBay Ireland has successfully retained international accreditation ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. This year, the audit was carried out remotely in compliance with current COVID-19 restrictions thanks to cooperation with the auditors, SGS. Looking ahead, we have open calls offering free access to the SmartBay Facility in 2021 through JERICO-S3, MaRINET2 and Ocean DEMO.
In this issue, we would like to highlight the new SmartBay Ireland Masters in Research Scholarship Programme in partnership with the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), Údarás na Gaeltachta, the Marine Institute and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). The research project, commencing in November 2020, aims to develop a suite of post-primary educational resources in the field of marine renewable energy. You can find more information on this in the Community Engagement section.
We hope you enjoy our newsletter.
Stay safe and healthy,
John Breslin, General Manager
