The first meeting of the MELOA Advisory Board took place in Dublin on 16th May.

MELOA is a EU-H2020 funded project developing a family of low-cost, lightweight, versatile ocean surface drifters with some unique features; SmartBay Ireland is partner in the project, facilitating field campaigns in Ireland as part of the test and validation of the drifters, and responsible for the exploitation plans for the post-project phase.

The Advisory Board is comprised of a group of experts in the fields of physical oceanography, earth observation, ocean data products, satellite-derived data products and citizen science; they will be giving input to the Management Steering Committee regarding advice on the correct orientation of the project to better achieve its goals.
