SmartBay Ireland is strongly committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy statement explains what information about you we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and your legal rights.

Unless indicated otherwise, our Privacy Statement applies to all our website and services regardless of how you access or use them, including through mobile devices. We will use your information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise stated when we ask you for information. Please read this Privacy Policy before using our Services or providing any information to us.

In circumstances where we decide how and why information is collected and processed, we are the controller of your information. We are controller of information we process in connection with our events and marketing endeavours, business development and website enquiries. We will process such information in accordance with this Privacy Statement and applicable data protection laws.

1. Information we collect

SmartBay Ireland collect personally identifiable information about you such as your full name, postal address, affiliation, phone number(s), email and website address and your area of interest, industry sector, projects, technological expertise and through processing financial transactions such as financial information and bank account details. We do not store other personal information.

This information is collected:

• At registration and engagement - you provide us with information about you in the context of your engagement with us and your use of our Services. For example, you may provide us with information about your identity and your business.
• For website enquiries – you provide us with information such as your name, title and email address when you visit or use our website and enquire for further information.
• At events and for marketing - you provide us with your information such as your name, place of work and contact details, when you sign up to or attend our events or otherwise engage with our business.
• When submitting a curriculum vitae (CV) – you provide us with certain information when you send us your CV and we can consider you for roles at SmartBay Ireland.

• Cookies
We collate information on all our Websites traffic using ‘Cookies’, these are text files placed on your computer, to help the websites analyse how users use the site. We use third parties such as (Google Analytics) to collect user information, including through the use of cookies (flash and non-flash) and web beacons. They help us to improve our Websites and to deliver many of the functions that make your browser experience more user friendly.
You should also be aware that there are cookies which are found in other companies' internet tools which we are using to enhance the websites. You will see ‘social buttons’ on our Websites, which enable you to share or bookmark the web pages.

• Google Analytics
Our Websites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ('Google'). Google Analytics uses 'cookies', to help our websites analyse how users use the sites. 2. How we use it

Your data are held to allow us to keep you informed and up-to-date about services, activities, access to funding, technology updates and events associated with SmartBay Ireland, our partners and the SmartBay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site. These updates will help keep you informed about the project and funding opportunities available at the SmartBay Test Site. We do not collect or compile information for dissemination or sale to outside parties for consumer marketing purposes, or host mailings on behalf of third parties.

3. How we share your information
Your information is only available to SmartBay Ireland employees and is not shared with any third party, for any secondary or unrelated purposes, unless otherwise disclosed to you. If there is an instance where such information is sought to be shared, we will notify you in advance.

4. How your information is stored
All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (EEA). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

5. How we protect it
We recognise that your information is important to you and we take appropriate measures to protect your information while it is in our care. We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures in order to protect your information from unauthorised or unlawful disclosure, loss, misuse, alteration, destruction damage to such information.

6. Retention
We will only store your information as long as you are actively engaged with SmartBay services, projects and activities. If you have not been actively engaged with SmartBay Ireland for 2 years or more, we will contact you to determine if you wish to remain engaged with us.

7. Your Rights

As outlined, in certain circumstances, we act as a controller of your information. We have therefore provided information below about the rights that individuals have and how to exercise them. Access to information
We like to keep your information accurate and up to date. If you would like to access or update your information, or you would like details of the information which you have submitted to us, please do so at privacy@smartbay.ie. If we are informed that any information we hold is no longer accurate, we will make appropriate corrections based on the updated information provided.

If you no longer want to receive our marketing emails, you can always opt-out by contacting us or by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the relevant email which you have received.
You can withdraw your permission to receive our emails at any time by sending an OPTOUT email to optout@smartbay.ie.

Restriction, Rectification and Deletion
You can request that we restrict, rectify or limit our processing of your information by contacting us. You can also request that we delete your information.
Objection
If we process your information based on our legitimate interests explained above, or in the public interest, you can object to this processing in certain circumstances. In such cases, we will cease processing your information unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue processing or where it is needed for legal reasons.

8. Withdrawal of consent
Where we’ve asked for your consent to process your information, and you want to withdraw that consent, you can do so at any time. To withdraw consent to our processing of your information please email us at privacy@smartbay.ie
In certain cases, we may continue to process your information after you have withdrawn consent if we have a legal basis to do so or if your withdrawal of consent was limited to certain processing activities.
